What Do We Teach to Little Children?
​
1. Being Attentive – learning to listen.
​
We need to know the voice of God. Jesus tell us “my sheep know my voice”. We can practice hearing by first being attentive to our parents and supervisors. When we have learned to hear what people say, then we will be able to hear God’s voice. When we are attentive we listen with our whole heart; we are polite and we show that we respect God’s Word and a person’s words.

John 10: 27, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
​
2. Being Appreciative – learning to be thankful.
​
We need to be grateful to God for his grace and mercy to us. We need to think of all the blessings God has given. We need to thank God most of all for His Son Jesus and what He did for us. We need to thank other people like our parents, teachers and pastors for praying for us.
​
II Corinthians 9:15, “Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift”.
​
3. Being Truthful – learning to tell the truth.
​
Jesus lives in us and we live in Jesus. Jesus is the truth and when He lives in us we must tell the truth. God can use us to minister His Word when we always speak the truth.
​
John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no man cometh unto the father but by me.”
4. Being Friendly – learning to make and keep friends.
​
What are friends for? They talk and play with us. They like us and we like them. A good friend will play fair, take turns and be a good sport. It is good to have a best friend, many other friends, new friends, grown-up friends and little friends. Older friends like doctor, teacher, dentist, or nurse help us. How can we help our neighbors? Help our little friends? Can we show the love of Jesus to a new friend.

John 15:13 Greater Love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

5. Being Kind- learning to be thoughtful and caring toward each other.
​
Romans 12:10 “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another”.
​

6. Being Forgiven – learning to forgive and be forgiven.
​
God through the blood of Jesus, forgives our sin and takes away our sin nature. He wants us to forgive those who have hurt us. If we cannot forget what they have done to us, God wants us to ask them to forgive us for the feeling we have against them even when they were wrong!
​
1 John 1:9 “ If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

7. Being generous – learning how to give all we have for God to use.
​
All we have belongs to God because He gave it to us. God shows us how to use what we have his purposes on glory.
​
Luke 6:38 ‘’Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down and shaken together, and running over, shall men give unto your bosom.
​

8.Being Responsible-learning to see a need and fill it.
​
Every day these are certain things we must do.be sure to do them in the best way that we can. There something each day that we may not do. We must be responsible to do all the right things and none of the wrong things. Can you name some things we must do every day? Jesus is watching to see if we do our very best.
​
‘’Therefore, my beloved Brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord.

9.Being Available –learning to stop what we are doing to do what God wants us to do
​
Sometimes we are busy doing something we want to do when God or another person asks us to do something else. We need to say “yes, ma’am or “yes, sir” quickly and do what they say.
​
II Timothy 4:2
“Preach the Word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all along suffering.

CTLI, thru Institute for Foundational Learning Curriculum, supports these children in all of these areas:

Physical development sees how a child moves his body, which is large motor skills and his fingers and hands, as in the case of writing for small motor skills. Teachers provide different physical activities to help students acquire these skills. By using their bodies actively like running, jumping, throwing and catching, children build healthy bones and muscles. Activities such as tracing, drawing, coloring, painting and clay modelling help children to unearth their creativity.

Social development helps children to get along with others. By playing, singing, dancing, and learning together with other kids, children build their social skills, communication skills, and self-control. With the supervision of teachers, children learn to resolve conflicts that may come up during classes. Children learn the essence of sharing.
​
​
Emotional development lets your child be aware of his feelings and the feelings of others. Teachers help children to listen, pay attention and express feelings with words. Teachers help them to recognize and manage their own feelings and behavior. They also teach children to ask help when needed, and to show concern and affection for others. To build the children's pride in accomplishments, teachers encourage them to try new things and keep working at hard tasks.

Language and literacy development helps children to acquire skills through listening, speaking, reading and writing. Children learn the meanings, and uses of words to grow in communication skills. Children learn to reproduce the words that they are repetitively exposed to. Emergent readers and spellers are produced.
Thinking, or cognitive, skills
​
Thinking, or cognitive, skills enable children to process sensory information and eventually learn to evaluate, solve problems, analyze, remember, and make comparisons. Teachers help them to explore by asking questions and interacting with teachers to improve their thinking skills. They help the children be involved in the progressive building of learning skills, such as attention, memory and thinking. The way children approach specific activity is also an important part of their thinking skills. For example, being able to concentrate, recognize patterns, or even handle frustrations helps him learn more easily. Reflecting on all of these things, and using learned information lets your child understand the world around him.
